North, South, East & West

DJ & Jodi's July/August Update

North, South, East & West

Writing from our new "home" in Cochabamba, I think back over the whirlwind of the past several months.

US Independence Day found us flying north over the equator on the American 922 flight.  In a nutshell, our July and August travels looked something like this:

58 days "on the road/in the air"
37 different places we spent the night
22 states visited/driven through
8,000+ miles driven

Needless to say, we're very glad to be home :).  There is just so much to do on our trips to the States!  Our travels took us to the ASI convention, the Javron Super Cub kit factory, two super-charger facilities, as well as churches and meetings where we shared about missions.  Not to worry, though, we didn't work the whole time.  Our vacation-y highlights included spending a few days with family in the Wyoming Tetons, backpacking on the John Muir Trail, and picking blueberries in New England.

Now that we're back in Bolivia, we're getting settled into a new city, a new home, and a new church.  We are also looking forward to this next year and how we fit into God's ever advancing evangelistic plan.

We just returned from our best medical trip ever and DJ has several more planned for the next couple of months.  It's fun to watch how God provides just the right people for each trip.  The one thing we really need is more dentistry help.  If you're interested in joining us to pull a few teeth, let us know!  We are especially looking for a dentist for our Nov. 30-Dec 7 trip.  You would be a blessing!

From here we are eagerly looking forward towards several big pieces in the growth of this ministry including completing the airplane and launching the aviation program, finding/purchasing land to build an airbase outside of the city, and acquiring an additional vehicle to complement Samson.  Please pray that God will give us wisdom, faith and courage as we move forward, and for the funds to make God's choices a reality.

We are excited to share that God has moved many people to donate a cumulative $25,000 (~13%) towards the Super Cub and $7,000 (~40%) towards a second project vehicle.  We are third in line for the fabrication of the airplane kit.  Additionally, through a significant amount of research and conversations with many helpful engine specialists, DJ has compiled really great information that is providing answers on an engine choice for the Super Cub.  You can read more about the airplane progress at www.gospelaviation.org/supercub.

It is so encouraging to think about how much better we will be able to serve these remote communities when we have an airplane operational.  However, God often allows delays because He has even bigger plans than we do.  For now the ground-based medical program, although somewhat slow and primitive compared to aviation, is yielding exciting results. We'll be sending out another update soon of our most recent trip into the mountains and telling all about the ways God is working even now to bring His love and message of salvation to these special people living in the remote mountain communities.

Until then, we want to thank you so much for being a part of this mission here in the Bolivia highlands!  Your prayers, encouragement, and support for this project are changing lives!
