Bursting into the New Year

January 2015 Mission Update from Bolivia Highland Ministries

Happy New Year!

We're finally heading back to Bolivia!  A missionary pilot from the South America Mission group (a Baptist group based in Bolivia) asked DJ to copilot a small twin-engine aircraft to Bolivia near the end of January (25-30). His company requires a co-pilot who has made the trip before and the timing is lining up perfectly with our return to Bolivia. I will follow along commercially, taking our belongings and arriving in Bolivia around the same time as DJ.

We welcome the Eno family!  Chris and Crystal Eno will be joining us in the highlands around September of this year. We look forward to the skills they bring in aviation and physical therapy and are excited to see how God will use our combined efforts.

AMA Guyana (GAMAS) has acquired a Cessna 182P bush plane!
During the year we spent in Guyana, we saw first-hand the effectiveness of the mission plane and the increasing need for a second plane and pilot. God sent the Anderson family to fill the personnel need, and we actively continued praying for and working towards getting another airplane for GAMAS. This week, a deal was made on the "911" plane (the tail number is N9113M), and preparations are being made to place the plane in service, extending the medical and evangelistic work farther into the remote jungles of Guyana. We rejoice with the GAMAS team in the Lord's perfect timing!

We look forward to including education in our ministry!

The Bolivia highlanders place a high value on education, but the opportunities are very limited, and Christian education is almost non-existent.

More schools are needed throughout western Bolivia, especially in the remote areas.

We would like to begin with one school in one village.

Might we then be able to facilitate the growth of one school per year? Or every two years?

"'Not by might, nor by power, but by the Spirit,' says the Lord of Host" (Zech.4:6).

Please pray that God will lead us to just the right place to begin.

We need some wheels!
...such as this older Toyota Land Cruiser
When we were in the highlands in June, we recognized that a piece to success in starting a new project there would be to have a vehicle.

So, we've launched a vehicle campaign, which you'll get an email about soon, describing our needs and ways you can support our vehicle fund.

To date, we've received pledges/donations for about 30% of this fund!

Praise the Lord!

We're gearing up for the year-round cold weather!

With the lack of heat inside most buildings in the highlands (especially those in rural areas), wearing lots of clothes is a must.

We are so grateful for the gifts that people have given us in creating a warmer wardrobe.
